Polls will go ahead even if Morcha boycotts: Deuba

Kathmandu, March 31

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba says the May 14 elections will go ahead as planned even if the Madheshi Morcha decides to boycott it.

Deuba, who arrived in Biratnagar on Friday, said the elections will not be postponed under any excuse. “The elections will happen and it will happen in a single phase,” he added.

He informed that the Nepali Congress and the ruling coalition was in talks with the Morcha to amend constitution by putting the issue of provincial boundaries on hold.

He, however, said he was confident an agreement with the Morcha would be reached, and it will also contest the civic elections.
