A policeman has been arrested on charges of recording and publicising a video of the statement given by the teenager involved in the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl child from Bara. The video, filmed in the statement room while the teenager’s statement was being recorded, has since gone viral on social media.
In the video, the teenager reportedly describes the entire assault in detail.
Questions had already been raised about the police after the video of the statement given before the police leaked it out.
The person believed to have recorded and leaked the video has now been arrested. According to Bara Police SP Narendra Kunwar, the policeman who filmed the video has been arrested and is currently in custody. Preparations are underway to proceed against him on criminal charges.
Five policemen were reportedly seen in the group involved in filming the video, and investigation into the others is ongoing.
