Police lathi-charge Federal Alliance cadres during Baluwatar protest, ASI hurt in clash

Kathmandu, May 17

Federal Alliance activists clashed with police in course of Tuesday’s protests in Baluwatar. Assistant sub-inspector Rabindra Dulala had his thumb fractured when protesters fought police with sticks, Onlinekhabar’s Ramesh Dhamala informed from the scene.

The clash occurred outside Nepal Rastra Bank’s central office when police lathi-charged protesters in a bid to prevent them from heading towards Prime Minister’s Official Residence.

Top leaders from the United Democratic Madheshi Front are staging a sit-in at the place, amid heavy security presence. There’s a huge security presence outside the Presidential Palace, Sital Niwas, as well.

In course of the protest at Maitighar Mandala on Monday, protesters had beaten up two students, who said they were ‘looking for a hostel to shift from their rented accommodations in Maitedevi’, on the charge of trying to provoke police by pelting them with stones. The protesters claimed the two were police officers in civvies.
