The Kathmandu District Police Range says it has begun an investigation against a police inspector who pointed a pistol at locals during a recent demonstration in Shankharapur on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu.

For the past few days, locals of Bojheni in Shankharapur have been staging a protest against the construction of an electricity substation there. During a demonstration on Friday, Inspector Bishal Bahadur Budhathoki, called from the Baudhha Police Circle, pointed a pistol, threatening he could shoot at them.

SP Dinesh Raj Mainali, the spokesperson of the range, says an investigation team has been formed to look into the case as Budhathoki’s behaviour did not suit the professional conduct of the police organisation.
