Kathmandu, September 29
Nepal Police Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki met Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma at the Supreme Court on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Supreme Court sources, Karki arrived at the Supreme Court at around 4 pm and held a meeting with Chief Justice Sharma in his office for nearly 45 minutes.
The subject of their discussion has not been disclosed.
The meeting comes days after police took former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana from his residence to a police station overnight, citing a security threat.
The government has said Rana was taken into protective custody after threats against him increased.
However, the Supreme Court’s full court meeting had expressed objections to Rana being kept in police custody for around 10 hours on Sunday.
Karki’s meeting with Chief Justice Sharma took place after the full court issued a statement on the matter.
