Police arrest youth for speaking ill about PM Oli, Dahal and Deuba on Facebook


Kathmandu, August 20

Police have arrested a man for speaking ill about Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, NCP chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba on Facebook.

Sagar Mainali, 28, from Bara, had recently come back from foreign employment. Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Teku arrested Mainali from Bara and brought to Kathmandu, informed division chief SSP Sahakul Bahadur Thapa.

Thapa said that Mainali had been charged under the Electronic Transaction Act.

According to Thapa, Mainali had talked about ‘cutting and killing’ prominent persons of Nepal.’ After being arrested, he said that he had no idea about the consequences and asked for forgiveness.

Previously, a person speaking ill about Kathmandu Police Chief SSP Utam Subedi was arrested and then released after he apologised.
