PM Oli says Nepal has objected to China-India agreement on Lipulek

Lalitpur, September 5

CPN (UML) Chairperson and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Nepal has formally objected to the agreement between China and India to use Lipulek, a territory belonging to Nepal, as a trade route.

Speaking at the inauguration of the party’s Second Statute Convention at the Sunrise Conference Hall in Lalitpur today, Oli said he raised the issue with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to China from August 30 to September 3.

He added that Nepal’s position on Lipulek has also been clearly communicated to India.

PM Oli further clarified that Nepal has not expressed support for China’s Global Security Initiative (GSI).
