PM Oli likely to visit Singapore again this week

Kathmandu, August 18

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who returned to Kathmandu after a nine-day ‘medical visit’ to Singapore, is returning to the island nation again. Sources close to the PM said that Oli will probably leave for Singapore on August 21 or 22 assigning all responsibilities of the party to co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

PM Oli, who received a kidney transplant 12-years ago, is still on medication. The source added that the PM was going back to Singapore to follow-up on his treatment, He added that kidney transplant patients need to change their medication every ten years and Oli had done just that during his Singapore visit. He now needs to go back to Singapore to test the effectiveness of his medicine.

Upon arriving in Kathmandu last week, Oli had said that he was healthy. But since his return, PM Oli put off NCP’s secretariat meeting three times due to health reasons.

PM Oli, during his address to Parliament on Sunday, did not mention about going to Singapore. However, during his address, he did look frail. With Chairman Oli gone, his responsibility will be taken up by Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Senior leaders close to the party say that all decisions recently made by PM Oli regarding NCP were made so that he could go to Singapore this week. It is likely that the PM will also give up his party-related roles to Dahal.
