Kathmandu, May 18

In response to writ petitions demanding the Supreme Court issue an interim order to instruct Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to take the oath of office again, the apex court has asked the prime minister to submit an explanation within the next 15 days.

The court, however, refused to issue the interim order as demanded by the petitioners.

A single bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana heard the petitions that were filed on Monday today.

Oli had taken the oath of office and secrecy after being appointed the PM again on Friday last week. During the oath, he had skipped “I affirm” after telling President Bidya Devi Bhandari who was administering the oath that “it’s not necessary”, inviting the controversy.
