Kathmandu, August 3
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has interfered in four transfer decisions made by State Minister for Health Umesh Shrestha and told the officials not to implement them.
Earlier, State Minister Shrestha had transferred Covid-19 Unified Central Hospital CEO Dr Jageshwar Gautam after he was accused of irregularities in the procurement of various equipment. Likewise, Shrestha had transferred three other officials.
But, Deuba told the ministry not to implement the decisions now, claiming a state minister cannot make transfers, confirms a high-level official at the ministry.
While appointing Shrestha as the state minister, Deuba has still retained the position of health minister within himself.
