Kathmandu, August 24
A play based on the life of Ganesh Man Singh is set to be staged at Sarwanam Theatre. Titled Bir Ganesh Man, the play has been conceptualised, adapted and directed by Ashesh Malla.
The play will portray the life, struggles and convictions of Ganesh Man Singh, a prominent figure in Nepal’s democratic movement. Widely known as the “Iron Man” of Nepali politics, Singh devoted his entire life to establishing and restoring democracy in Nepal.
Born on November 24, 1915, into a Newa family in Kathmandu, Singh died on September 18, 1997. He was a founding leader of the Nepali Congress and the supreme commander of the historic 1990 People’s Movement.
The play, based on his life, will be staged regularly from August 30 to October 1, except on Thursdays.
