As many as 12 persons and groups who had filed separate writ petitions at the Supreme Court against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives have demanded a full bench of the apex court to hear the case.

They filed an application to the court today, arguing the issue deserves a serious interpretation of the constitution and there have been precedents that the court formed a full bench to deal with such serious cases.

They cite the court had dealt with two cases about the House dissolution in the 1990s through full benches.

Meanwhile, the five-member constitutional bench began the final hearing of the case today.

Earlier, the bench had issued a show cause notice in the names of the defendants including President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. They have already submitted their responses to the court. During the hearing today, the responses made by the defendants were read out.
