People’s Socialist Party Nepal will have three chairpersons for now

Kathmandu, June 7

One and a half months after the then Samajwadi Party Nepal and the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal agreed to merge to form the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal [People’s Socialist Party Nepal], its leaders have agreed to nominate five office-bearers of the party for a time being.

Sources say Mahantha Thakur, Baburam Bhattarai, and Upendra Yadav will be chairpersons of the party. Likewise, Ashok Rai and Rajendra Mahato will also be nominated as senior leaders.

After the agreement, the leaders are submitting an application to the Election Commission for the completion of the registration, according to leader Ganga Narayan Shrestha.

As the leaders had not finalised the leadership model, its formal registration at the commission was halted. The commission requires a party merged in this way to complete the registration process in 45 days since an agreement is signed. The deadline is expiring today.
