Kathmandu, August 10

Part-time teachers working for various colleges of Tribhuvan University on Thursday padlocked all constituent colleges of Nepal’s oldest university, demanding their contractual appointment.

They have been staging various forms of protests for past four months demanding  that the University scrap the part-time teaching system and appoint them with contracts.

Chief of the Part-time Teachers’ Association, Shashi Kumar Sharma, says office of the campus chief, account section and administration section at all 60 campuses have been padlocked.

Meanwhile, the teachers say they will boycott taking classes from today.

The protesters have been staging a relay hunger strike for last 18 days in front of TU gate.
