Panel formed to recommend new TU VC

Kathmandu, August 5

The government has formed a committee to recommend the next vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel, who is also the pro-chancellor of the oldest and biggest university of the country, heads the team. Two other members are Kamal Prasad Guragain and Dilli Prasad Sharma.

The TU Act has a provision that the ‘search committee’ comprising the education minister and two senate members will recommend a name to the prime minister, the chancellor of the university.

Incumbent Tirtha Raj Khaniya is retiring on August 24 after completing his four-year term.
