Over 180,000 visitors attend NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026

Kathmandu, August 17

The NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, organised by the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), has concluded with more than 180,000 visitors attending the six-day event.

The expo, which began on August 11 at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu, attracted more than 30,000 visitors on its final day alone, according to NAIMA. The association said 29,000 people visited on the opening day, 26,000 on the second day, 22,000 on the third, 31,000 on the fourth and more than 42,000 on the fifth day.

NAIMA had expected around 150,000 visitors over the six days. However, the expo attracted more than 30,000 visitors, above the initial estimate.

More than 55 brands, 53 new products

NAIMA President Ritu Singh Vaidya said the participation of more than 55 brands, attendance of over 180,000 visitors and the launch of 53 new products were among the expo’s major achievements.

She said efforts were made to develop the expo not merely as a platform for showcasing new vehicles and technologies, but also as a platform for knowledge and learning. Saying, “This is not the end, but the beginning,” Vaidya said NAIMA aims to organise an even larger and stronger expo in the future.

Bookings and inquiries exceed expectations

Organisers said customer interest in vehicles, as reflected in inquiries and bookings, also exceeded expectations. Auto Show Planning Committee Chair Gaurav Sharda said more people than expected visited the expo and that inquiries and bookings were also higher than anticipated.

NAIMA board member Cabinet Shrestha described the large turnout as a positive sign for the automobile industry. Akash Golchha, chair of NAIMA’s Strategy and Membership Affairs Committee, described the expo as a “superhit.”

Discussions and dialogues alongside vehicle displays

This year’s expo was not limited to vehicle displays, with discussions and interactive sessions held on a range of topics.

The NAIMA Mobility Dialogue was held on the closing day, August 16, featuring House of Representatives member Bidushi Rana, NAIMA board member and Padma Jyoti Group Chairperson Saurabh Jyoti, Padma Kanya Campus Assistant Professor Bhagwati Sedain and Thapathali Engineering Campus Assistant Professor Lochan Kendra Devkota.

Throughout the expo, discussions were held on artificial intelligence and automotive technology, battery recycling, ethanol blending, finance and insurance, the present and future of mobility, investment and foreign direct investment, among other topics.

Focus on sustainable and technology-friendly transport

According to NAIMA, the second edition of the expo was organised with the objective of promoting a sustainable, green and technology-friendly transportation system in Nepal. Domestic and multinational vehicle manufacturers and importers participated significantly in the expo.

NAIMA Executive Director Raj Kumar Dulal said the organisers focused on learning sessions, collaboration and demand-driven management alongside the large-scale exhibition. According to him, visitor satisfaction was the key measure of the expo’s success.

Various banks, insurance companies, technology and charging companies, educational institutions, ride-sharing companies, and organisations from the health and safety sectors also partnered in this year’s expo.

NAIMA said the large turnout and strong interest in new products demonstrated that consumer interest in Nepal’s automobile and mobility market remains strong.
