Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli lays the foundation stone for the new PM’s residence, in Baluwatar, on Thursday, September 19, 2019.

Kathmandu, September 19

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a new residential building on the premises of PM’s official residence in Baluwatar.

A day after he laid the foundation stone of a new Parliament building, Oli launched the construction of the PM’s residential building by participating in a ritual this morning.

Claiming the 2015 earthquake damaged the existing building, the government has allocated Rs 400 million for the project. It is expected to be completed in the next two years.

The government is constructing two new buildings there. The first building with three floors will be used for the prime minister’s personal use whereas another building, also three-storeyed, will be used for other functions.

The first building will boast guest rooms, living rooms, kitchen and dining rooms. Besides basics, the second building will have meeting rooms and an office for the prime minister.
