Kathmandu, February 20

Two chairpersons of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, have met on Thursday morning to discuss a controversial audio clip, in which Minister for Communications and Informational Technology Gokul Baskota supposedly demanded Rs 750 million commission from an agent of a Swiss security printing press company.

Dahal had gone to the PM’s residence in Baluwatar for the meeting this morning after the leaked clip went viral on social media.

A source privy to the meeting says the two leaders have agreed to inquire Baskota after he comes back to Kathmandu this afternoon and take further action based on his response. The minister is currently visiting some districts of western Nepal.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has demanded that the prime minister sack Baskota immediately and launch an independent probe into the case. Bibeksheel Nepali has also demanded the investigation.
