Nepal recorded the highest growth rate among source countries of international students in the United States, a recent report has shown.

The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) says, “Although China and India sent the largest number of students to the United States (362,368 students and 206,698 students, respectively), Nepal saw the largest growth of students coming to the United States to study while Saudi Arabia saw the steepest decline among the top 10 Asian countries.”

The report, however, does not clearly mention how many Nepali students got enrolled in American universities in the study period (between May 2016 and May 2017).

The majority of Nepali are enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s programmes in US institutions, mostly located in states like Texas and Minnesota, the report informs.

The biannual report has further analysed preferred courses and programmes, institutions and locations (states and territories) of international students.
