No point holding talks with terrorist groups: PM Oli

Kathmandu, March 12

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government will not hold talks with terrorist groups.

PM Oli, in a meeting with Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies, said that there was no point in doing negotiations with such groups.

“A lot of people come to me and tell me to hold talks. But what do we talk about? The things that these groups are doing aren’t political. We will deal with them as per the law. They are terror groups, not political groups,” he said.

The Association had come to hold talks with PM Oli asking him to do something about terror attacks in the country. An improvised device exploded inside the residence of the chairman of Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies, Rohan Gurung, in Basundhara on March 8.

PM Oli without taking the name of Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ said that a group calling it a communist party were doing wrong. “Communists don’t teach young boys to go and extort money or to explode bombs. This is wrong and they will all be punished for this,” he said.

PM Oli also promised that the government was investigating into the explosion in Gurung’s residence.
