No decision yet on sending seasonal workers to Korea: Ministry of Labour

Kathmandu, May 11

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has clarified that no decision has been made regarding the deployment of seasonal workers to South Korea.

The clarification comes after a letter circulated on social media claimed that an agreement had been reached between the governments of Nepal and South Korea, and that local governments with sister-city agreements should contact the ministry.

The ministry stated that this claim is baseless and reiterated that it had previously issued a similar clarification in January 2025 (Magh 2081), denying the existence of any such agreement.

“No decision has been made by the ministry on this matter. No official notice has been issued at any time regarding the recruitment of seasonal workers. The use of the ministry’s letterhead and stamp in such unfounded and fabricated documents is a misuse,” the statement read.

The ministry added that it has forwarded the matter to the concerned authorities for action against those involved in the dissemination of false information.
