The Nepali year 2078 is now gone, and the new year is rolling in. It is often said that how you start the new year sets the tone for the rest of the year. Hence, there are so many activities to do on New Year’s Day.

Bid the old year a heartfelt farewell, turn over to a blank page in your life and get to work ensuring that the Nepali New Year 2079 begins on a positive note. But, if you are lowkey and do not like partying all night long or spending money on materialistic things, here is a list of some of the greatest options.

Rather than getting cooped up in a crowded club on New Year’s Day, enjoy nature. If the weather permits, go for a leisurely trek in a lovely location to get some fresh air. Hiking is a great method to improve your health, fitness, or self-care, and it is a great way to start the new year.

If you are clueless about where to go, the Shivapuri hiking trail is the most accessible for people living in the Kathmandu valley and it is only 10 km long. Other hiking routes that you can go to include Namobuddha, Nagarkot and Phulchoki. They are not too long and are perfect if you want to start your new year by doing something interesting and natural.

2. Cook with your family

As long as you have a great time with them, any game works. Several indoor games are perfect for groups and games that you can play with your family. Some of them are simple board games like ludo, carrom board, or festival staples like playing cards or other multiplayer games can also be a good choice, like scrabble or jenga if you are good at it

Collect and place photos you took during the trip you went, your achievements, and the memories of times when you had a lot of fun. If you have photos of that time, keep them in the book. However the year has been, you will most likely want to remember it after years and even laugh at it. So, even if it was not your best year, compiling your happy memories will help you conclude the year on a good note.

Several places in Nepal such as Mustang or Pokhara may be perfect if you are in Kathmandu looking for a long trip with the people you care about. A long trip may require more budget and spare time, but you will not regret a single moment of it if you plan properly.
