With the government’s decision to lift the luxury import ban, there are already new smartphones such as the iPhone 14 series, OnePlus flagships and other budget smartphones in the Nepali market. Also, with the start of the new year 2023, smartphone manufacturers are already releasing and teasing their new lineup of smartphones. So what can Nepal expect as far as new smartphones are concerned this new year?
Here is a list of some smartphone lineups set to get released in Nepal this year.
1. Samsung S23 series
As always, Samsung’s S series phones are the new smartphones that are always the main headlines of Samsung phones. The S series is one of the most awaited smartphones every year worldwide. In 2022, the Samsung S22 series including Samsung S22, Samsung S22+ and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra did pretty well in the international and Nepali markets. Now, in 2023, Samsung is releasing the Samsung s23 series all over the world and in Nepal.
There are a few leaks from unofficial channels about the Samsung S23 series. But, we will know about it in February when Samsung’s S23 series new smartphones will get a global launch.
2. OnePlus flagships
The Chinese company OnePlus recently released the OnePlus 10 series in Nepal after the lift of the import ban. The new smartphones expected from OnePlus are probably its flagship series of OnePlus 11 and other mid-range smartphones. OnePlus 10T, also recently released in Nepal, is gaining popularity in the market. The other OnePlus mid-range phones will also be an addition to the flagship of OnePlus smartphones.
3. Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 series
One of the most famous Redmi phones overall in Nepal is the Note series. This year too, the Note 12 series will bring hype to Nepal. The Redmi Note 12 series new smartphones have already been released in India and are very soon to be released in Nepal. The Note 12 series has three phones including Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro and the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. In the past year, Redmi added another smartphone in its Note series as the premium mid-range budget smartphone as the Pro Plus variant.
Along with the Note 12 series, there will be a chance to see some budget smartphones from Xiaomi, which will also gain the market as Xiaomi always does. But for now, in early 2023, we will see the Redmi Note 12 series from Xiaomi.
4. Apple iPhone new series
The latest iPhone was released in September 2022 worldwide, but for Nepal, it was a bit late due to the import ban. The next launch of the Apple iPhone will be available in Nepal, which is probably going to be the Apple iPhone 15 series. Currently, Apple’s iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are all available in Nepal with different storage variants and price ranges.
5. Others
There will also be other smartphones in the budget and mid-range category by other brands. Recently released Honor X9a has already been available in Nepal in the mid-range category. Similarly, Samsung, Realme and other brands’ budget-category and mid-range category smartphones will be available in Nepal. Flip phones from Samsung and other brands are also getting popular and their recent versions are also expected to enter the Nepali market.
Overall, 2023 will be a great year for smartphone enthusiasts in Nepal.
