NEPSE gains 11.96 points, turnover declines

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose 11.96 points to close at 2,578 points on Tuesday.

Trading turnover, however, declined slightly. Shares worth Rs 3.13 billion were traded on Tuesday, down from Rs 3.27 billion on the previous trading day.

The prices of 169 companies increased, while those of 95 companies declined. The prices of 15 companies remained unchanged.

All sectoral indices recorded fluctuations of less than 1 per cent. The banking index rose 0.65 per cent, development banks 0.55 per cent, finance 0.15 per cent, hotels and tourism 0.53 per cent, hydropower 0.62 per cent, investment 0.43 per cent, life insurance 0.35 per cent, manufacturing and processing 0.27 per cent, others 0.39 per cent and trading 0.82 per cent.

The non-life insurance index declined 0.06 per cent, while the microfinance index fell 0.17 points.

Trishuli Hydropower gained 5.11 per cent, Salapa Development Bank 3.77 per cent, Hathway Investment 3.65 per cent, Butwal Power 3.57 per cent, and Liberty Energy 3.50 per cent.

Sarvottam Paints declined 4.94 per cent, Chirkhwa Hydropower 3.00 per cent, and Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta 2.84 per cent.

The companies recording the highest trading volumes were Ghalemdi Hydropower, Liberty Energy, Himal Dolakha Hydropower, Laxmi Sunrise Bank and Peoples Hydropower, respectively.
