The main opposition Nepali Congress says the white paper Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada issued last week has exaggerated problems of Nepali economy and it just wants to blame the opposition for all problems.
Taking a special time at the House of Representatives meeting today, Congress lawmaker Minendra Rijal said the government manipulated facts and data to serve its political interests. On the other hand, the selection of information was not consistent with time period, he claimed.
Finance Minister Khatiwada had issued the white paper last Friday so as to reflect the country’s economic situation and suggest ways forward.
In the document, he had claimed that the treasury was almost empty.
“But, this frightening projection is just an exaggeration,” Rijal commented.
He, however, maintained that the opposition side was positive about supporting reform initiatives to be taken by the government.
