Nepali Congress: Paudel camp’s lunch meeting moots anti-Deuba alliance

Leaders of Nepali Congress hold a meeting at the residence of Sujata Koirala, in Kathmandu, on Monday, November 12, 2018.

Kathmandu, November 12

Leaders of Nepali Congress close to senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday discussed strengthening the alliance against party President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The leaders such as Paudel, General Secretary Shashanka Koirala, Prakash Man Singh, Ram Sharan Mahat, Arjun Narsingha KC, Shekhar Koirala and Sujata Koirala gathered at Sujata’s house in Mandikhatar of Kathmandu to discuss how they can better tackle Deuba’s leadership in the party.

It has been learned that another influential leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula was also invited to the meeting. He, however, could not show up as he was outside the capital.

Sujata had hosted a lunch to gather the leaders for the meeting.

Of late, these leaders have opposed Deuba’s decision to appoint Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar vice-president while discussions are underway to amend the statute.

A participant of the meeting says the leaders agreed that they should be together to consolidate the party.
