Nepali Congress flays government for ‘manipulative’ white paper

Kathmandu, April 9

The main opposition Nepali Congress says the government issued a politically motivated document in the name of white paper.

The party organised a press conference in Kathmandu this afternoon to make public its comments on the white paper Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada issued on March 30 to inform the public about the country’s financial status and suggest ways forward.

The paper had argued that the policy of privatisation advocated by the Nepali Congress failed as it was not based on ground reality.

At the press meet today, the party’s spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said the government selectively included partial and biased data so as to portray the situation negatively.

“They have tried to prove that everything is wrong and it is done by the government led by Nepali Congress,” another leader Prakash Sharan Mahat said, ‘With this, they are trying to run away from their commitments made during the elections.”
