Nepali Congress expands Dashain tea party to provincial constituencies

Kathmandu, September 19

The ruling Nepali Congress has decided to expand the tea party programme, which it organises every year on the occasion of Dashain festival, to provincial constituencies this year, considering the elections of provincial assemblies in seven provinces scheduled for November 26 and December 7.

The party has been holding a tea party in Kathmandu on Kojagrat Purnima, the final day of 15-day Badadashain festival every year, for over 40 years.

But this year, similar programmes would be organised in each of 330 provincial constituencies, according to the party’s Central Office Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.

Paudel says the decision was made “realising the need to expand the programme as the party needs to be active among general people for upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections.”
