Kathmandu, October 8
Voting to elect the new leadership of the Nepali Congress has been postponed to Friday after the voting process failed to begin on Thursday.
Voting was initially scheduled for 10am but was postponed three times, eventually being scheduled for 2:30pm. However, voting could not begin even by the revised time, and the Central Election Committee did not announce another time for Thursday.
According to Election Committee coordinator and senior advocate Prem Bahadur Khadka, voting will now begin at 7am on Friday.
The Election Committee has attributed the delay to the late arrival of election materials from the printing press.
The 15th General Convention is being held to elect the party’s new Central Working Committee, including the president, vice-presidents, general secretaries, joint general secretaries and Central Committee members.
