Nepal has received support from 29 countries and major international organisations following the disaster caused by the Bhotekoshi flood. While some countries have provided essential humanitarian assistance, others have sent financial aid as well as relief supplies.
According to a press briefing by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday afternoon, the countries that have expressed solidarity and provided timely assistance during the disaster are India, China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the United Kingdom, Japan, the United States, Qatar, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, Germany, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Myanmar, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Norway, Israel, Canada, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand, Denmark, Switzerland, Ireland and the Czech Republic.
Likewise, the European Union, the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the United Nations and other friendly countries and international organisations have also provided assistance. Individuals and social organisations have also announced support for Nepal. The Government of Nepal has expressed its gratitude for the assistance.
Forensic teams from 4 countries deployed to identify victims
Forensic teams from four countries have also been deployed in Nepal to help identify the bodies of those who died in the flood. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, forensic teams from India, China, Singapore and South Korea have arrived in Nepal to expedite the collection, analysis and identification of DNA from the bodies of the victims.
The teams are working in coordination with the Nepal Police and other relevant agencies to speed up DNA testing and the identification of the remains.
