Nepal Police suspends 2 traffic police officers ‘for extorting money from juniors’

L-R: Rameshwar Yadav and Bimal Basnet

Kathmandu, December 2

Nepal Police has suspended two superintendents of police on the charge of extorting money from junior staffers regularly.

Rameshwar Yadav and Bimal Basnet have been suspended for further investigation into their alleged involvement in some non-professional activities, according to Nepal Police Spokesperson SSP Basanta Kunwar.

It has been learned that the headquarters had received a complaint that claimed the duo extorted money from junior staffers monthly while they were stationed at Karnali Provincial Traffic Police Office.

The national police organisation has formed a team under the leadership of SSP Ramesh Ranjitkar to look into the charge.

Whereas both Yadav and Basnet have a bad repute in the organisation, Yadav had faced action for being flexible towards some marijuana producers while working in Sindhuli a few years ago.
