Nepal PM in waiting, Prachanda, pledges to abide by KP Oli era agreements reached with China

Ambassador of China to Nepal, Wu Chuntai, on Friday congratulated in advance top contender for the post of Prime Minister in the new government, CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Prachanda.

On his part, Prachanda has pledged to implement all agreements that the previous government (KP Oli-led government) had reached with China.

Accompanied with fellow officials from the Embassy of China in Nepal, Ambassador Wu had called on Prachanda at his residence in Lazimpat early in the morning.

Prachanda’s Secretariat informed: During the meeting, Ambassador Wu said the government of China will provide full support to Prachanda as he strives to lead a new government.

It further informed: During the meeting, Ambassador Wu said Chinese government, Chinese Communist Party and Chinese people will provide full support to a government that will take shape under Prachanda in a few days. He said the government of China will provide full support to the Prachanda-led government for development of Nepal.

Throwing light on latest political developments in Nepal, Prachanda informed the diplomat that a new government will take shape under his leadership in a few days. Prachanda said his government will step up efforts to implement the Constitution and speed up efforts aimed at promoting political stability and peace, completing post-quake reconstruction works and other development initiatives.

According to the Secretariat, Prachanda assured Chinese Ambassador that the government under his leadership will fully abide by agreements Nepal and China reached while the KP Oli government was in power.

On the occasion, apart from implementing deals reached with China, Prachanda pledged to build what he called new understanding with China.
