Nepal-India EPG’s third meet kicks off in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, April 5

A meeting of the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) on Nepal-India Relations has kicked off in Kathmandu.

The group, formed to review the whole gamut of relations between the two countries, is expected to discuss the 1950 Nepal-India Friendship Treaty.

The meeting, which was postponed twice due to elections in India, will also take up the issue of Nepal-India trade and cooperation in hydro power.

An Indian delegation lef by BJP leader Bhagat Singh Kosiyari arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday. Former ambassador Jayant Prasad and academic Mahendra P Lama are also part of the team.

Former ambassador Bhek Bhadur Thapa is leading the Nepali delgation.

Members of the group say they hope the meeting in Kathmandu will be fruitful towards meeting the objectives set out by the two governments.
