Kathmandu, March 12
Nepal has 53 airports, but only 10 are self-sustaining, according to records at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
Likewise, 24 others are in loss. Further, 19 others are non-operational, ready to shut down.
The authority has prepared a report based on the income and expenses of airports across the country for the past five years.
Airports that are self-sustaining and earning profits:

- Bhairahawa Airport, Rupandehi
- Biratnagar Airport, Morang
- Chandragadhi Airport, Jhapa
- Nepalgunj Airport, Banke
- Dhangadhi Airport, Kailali
- Pokhara Airport, Kaski
- Bharatpur Airport, Chitwan
- Lukla Airport, Solukhumbu
- Simkot Airport, Humla
