Nepal Electricity Authority technical staffers told not to leave office during Tihar

Kathmandu, November 5

The government-run electricity production and distribution authority has directed its staffers under production, operation and maintenance departments not to leave their duty stations during Tihar festival.

The directive aims at ensuring uninterrupted supply of power during the five day festival of lights and colours.

Officials at Nepal Electricity Authority say the directive intends to avoid the problems surfaced in past years due to the absence of technical personnel during the festival.

If necessary, the staff have to report to senior officials upon leaving the workstation, according to the Authority.

The Authority’s central office has told the staff that chiefs of respective departments and distribution centres will be held responsible if there is any interruption in the power supply.
