Nepal crowned ACC U-16 Eastern Region champions

Nepal have defeated Singapore by 71 runs in the final of the ACC U-16 Eastern Region Cricket tournament being played in Thailand.

Defending champions Nepal defeated Singapore by 71 runs, thanks to skipper Bishal KCs’ match-saving innings and the Nepali bowlers’ sustained and disciplined attack on the opposition.

Batting first, the Nepali squad made 183 runs in its allotted 35 overs. Nepal lost opener Kushal Malla in the second over, and two more wickets fell within the next four overs. In 5.3 overs, Nepal could only muster 21 runs. Skipper Bishal KC, who came then came to the crease made 63 runs and guided Nepal to a respectable score.

Singapore could only muster 112 runs in 31.5 overs, Nepal’s Surya Tamang and Ajay Luniya claimed six wickets each. Nepal had earlier defeated Thailand, Hong Kong and Myanmar in the group stage of the tournament. Similarly, the Rhinos beat Malaysia in the semi-final to reach the finals.
