Nepal begin with victory in Blind Women’s T20 World Cup

Nepal made a winning start in the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup underway in India.

In their opening match on Wednesday, Nepal defeated Sri Lanka by nine wickets. Chasing a target of 88 runs set by Sri Lanka, Nepal reached 89 runs for the loss of one wicket in just 5.2 overs.

Opener Mankesi Chaudhary played a blistering unbeaten knock of 61 runs off 22 balls, becoming the first player to score a half-century in the Blind Women’s World Cup. Likewise, Binda Pun contributed 13 runs off 8 balls.

Earlier, opting to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka posted 87 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Mihirani Dulanjali top-scored with 23 runs.

For Nepal, Kanti Yogi took three wickets, while Mankesi Chaudhary was named Player of the Match.

Nepal will play their second match against India on Friday. India have also defeated Sri Lanka in their opening match.
