Minister for Defence, Bal Krishna Khand, said on Sunday the national army will also undergo restructuring in keeping with the country’s federal structure.

Khand, speaking at a programme in Rupandehi, his home district, said restructuring of the country and the Nepal Army will reflect people’s aspirations.

Khand, who is also an influential Nepali Congress leader, indicated he will not be an obstacle to efforts aimed at making the army’s duties, rights and responsibilities systematic.

In a different context, Khand expressed worry over freezing of annual budget meant for development of Rupandehi.

He said: At the Centre, we fight for allocation of budget for the development of Rupandehi district. Despite this, crores of rupees go unspent.

Khand asked employees concerned to utilise development budget meant for Rupandehi. Political instability has affected development, he said, asking all people to join hands for progress.
