The government has estimated losses of around Rs 400 billion from the Bhotekoshi flash flood that struck Nepal on August 26.
At a regular briefing organised by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) on Thursday, its Executive Director, Dr Dharma Raj Upreti, said the authority had made a preliminary estimate of Rs 387.54 billion in losses caused by the August 26 disaster. However, a detailed assessment is still awaited.
He said the country could require around Rs 8 billion over the next four months to restore various sectors affected by the disaster.
“It is essential to restore buildings, communications, energy and transport systems, health, nutrition, education, agriculture and livestock,” Dr Upreti said.
