The Nepal Academy of Music and Drama is to host the National Music and Drama Festival -2082′ on June 13. At a news conference organised by the Academy here on Monday, it was shared that the festival is going to be organised in Kathmandu with an objective of exchanging culture by introducing original and indigenous songs, music, dance and drama of all seven provinces.

Academy Chancellor Nisha Sharma said there would be multi-dynamic presentation of Nepali folk music, art and cultural diversity in the event. “Popular and emerging artists of the seven provinces will participate in one forum.

We believe that this will help explore and highlight the innovative creativity by reviewing the Nepali original melodies, instruments and dramatic tradition”, she added. Coordinator of the Ceremony and Vice-Chancellor of the Academy, Shambhu Rai, shared that intellectuals of music, drama and literature genres, senior artists, students of school and campus would participate in the event.

Rai mentioned that the Academy made a strategy to organise such type of event in order to preserve folk culture as folk culture of marginalised communities are on the verge of disappearance.

Similarly, Member-Secretary of the Academy, Kushma Mahara, said the event will see various performances including Dhol dance, Bhojpuri song, Nisse dance, Jhamre dance, Laske dance, Tappa song, Deuda and Chhaliya dance.
