Police of Rupandehi district on Friday decided to file a murder attempt case against five persons for their alleged involvement in beating up a local woman in Sammarimai Rural Municipality of Rupandehi district.

Video clips of the torture had gone viral on social media yesterday, forcing police to launch an investigation.

Following the probe, police decided to file the case against five locals, says SP Rabindra Dhanuk.

Meanwhile, the District Police Office also decided to take a departmental action against Inspector Udaya Singh Sijapati, Chief of Marchawar Area Police Office, for not informing the DPO about the case on time.
