The government is preparing to provide Moderna Covid-19 vaccines to the 12-17 age group in mountainous districts.

Recently, the government has received 88,000 doses of the Moderna vaccines under the World Health Organization’s Covax facility, and it is planning to provide them to the teenagers in the mountainous districts in the first phase.

Sagar Dahal, the chief of the Vaccination Section in the Department of Health Services, says the new vaccination drive will begin from next week.

“We are discussing with the officials of the districts if they are ready for the vaccination campaign,” he says, “We will run the campaign based on the suggestions.”

Dahal says the government will soon receive 1 million doses of Moderna vaccines, and the number will reach 4 million by January 2022.

In the next phases, the vaccines will be given to teenagers in other districts.
