Kathmandu, December 11
Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokhrel has unveiled the government’s new education policy.
Minister Pokhrel, who was talking to mediapersons at the education ministry, made the 80-page-long dossier public months after a government-formed committee submitted its recommendations for the new policy.
The new policy, however, does not incorporate key recommendations of the committee, which called for the transformation of private schools into trusts. The new policy says that the government shall only regulate private schools. Minister Pokhrel said that the document was one of consensus and admitted that not all recommendations made by the committee were incorporated.
