Minister complains of lack of resources to implement fundamental rights

Pradeep Kumar Gyawali

Kathmandu, January 13

Minister for Foreign Affairs Peadeep Kumar Gyawali has said the government is suffering from a lack of resources needed to implement fundamental rights guaranteed in the constitution.

The minister’s statement comes at a time when the government is under fire for its failure to implement various constitutional rights.

“The biggest gap in implementing the constitution as per it’s spirit is about resources,” he said during a function organised by the National Human Rights Commission in Kathmandu on Monday, “We introduced the rights in the constitution and laws, but have we discussed the resources needed?”

During the function also, many stakeholders had asked the minister about the gaps between the constitutional provisions and the status of implementation.
