Kathmandu, March 22
The CEO of Nepal’s post-quake reconstruction authority says the government might as well dissolve the body if it wants to continue the status quo.
CEO Govind Pokhrel says the authority’s status is not even close to the infrastructure section of the National Planning Commission. Pokhrel, a fomer vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission, was speaking to MPs at Parliament’s Development Committee.
Pokhrel said the authority is facing a dearth of human resources, and the NRA’s rules and regulations also do not help the cause. “There are so many guidelines to build a house that none of the houses, even in the cities, meet the guidelines.
He said that the government needs to make changes to the NRA’s regulations and if it cannot do so, it might as well dissolve it.
