Kathmandu, December 29

Making the 132-KVA Marsyangdi-Syuchatar transmission line operational will take sometime, Nepal Electricity Authority said on Thursday.

The jumper wire of the line snapped at around 7.20 am, disrupting power supply in the Kathmandu Valley.

Prabal Adhikari, NEA spokesperson, said an NEA team is doing the repair work currently. He said NEA is operating the reservoir-based Kulekhani hydro in a bid to supply power to the valley.

We are supplying 60-65 MW through the project, but this is not enough to meet Kathmandu’s power requirement, Adhikari said.

Earlier, NEA used to operate Kulekhani only in the morning and during peak hours in the evening.
