Looking for quick fame? Listen to what Rajesh Hamal has to say

Rajesh Hamal needs no introduction to Nepalis because this star has been in the cinema business for more than 25 years. It’s not only his grand stature that has attracted people towards him, it’s also his intelligent way of presenting his thoughts forward that has helped him gain more following.

In today’s world where people––especially youth––are running after quick success and fame, here is what our Rajesh Dai has to share with them.

1.

There’s no such thing called an overnight success.

If you want to be an instant or overnight success, it might be counterproductive in the long run. My experience tells me that if you are patient, and if you have a certain amount of self-confidence in whatever you are doing, and if you are driven by passion, that works much better in the long run.

2.

Be persistent.

Persistence is very important. If you believe in long-term goals, the immediate failures should not discourage you as long as you know that you have the passion and drive that you are able to overcome the immediate failure in order to get to the larger picture.

3.

When it comes to a profession, think about long-term plans.

Getting into a profession means you want to do something for the next 30 or 35 years of your life. It requires long-term planning. It is alright to want to get things done fast, but you cannot apply wrong methods to get things done instantly. That kind of instant success is not going to pay you in the long run.

4.

As a young person, don’t be scared of a failure.

When I was in my 20s, if something wrong happened to me or if I failed, it did not discourage me at all. I have failed because I have not given my best, it’s not because I cannot do it. If I give my best the next time I will overcome this failure. But as you grow older, you cannot afford to make many mistakes because you don’t have time to rectify them.

5.

It’s not good to fail all the time.

If you have failed all the time that means you have not learned any lesson from your failures. But if you fail and learn lessons from your failure and if you do not fail again at the same thing, you’re good.

6.

Follow your passion, but always have a plan B.

Just because you are passionate about something and you do it, it doesn’t mean that you will succeed so it’s always good to have a plan B.  If my plan A doesn’t work, I have a plan B, and you can make a success out of it. In course of time, if you’re not able to make a success out of your plan A, B or C, then you are a failure. When you are young, there’s always a chance to move on to something else.  In today’s world, you cannot just be one-track minded so it is always nice to have at least two plans for your future.

7.

Make no excuses.

If a person has certain opportunities in life right from the beginning, they have a better start. But, there are many examples in our country like top politicians and businesspersons, who made it big even though they did not have a better start. If you are a talented person, nothing can stop you from succeeding. So, it’s better not to make excuses.

8.

Time dictates everything.

Time is very important because time dictates everything in life.  A young person should know––if they’re in their 20s––what they want to do for the next 35 years and how to be as productive as possible. My regret in life––if I can call it a regret––is that I should have utilised my time much more diligently.

9.

Don’t shy away from working hard.

Success does not come without hard work.  Young people are in a lucky position that you are able to work hard so don’t shy away from that. You are capable of enduring pain only because of your age nothing else, so work hard. Remember: no pain, no gain.

10.

Don’t be in a rush.

If you put in sweat, tears and blood in whatever you are doing, there is plenty of time for you to enjoy the success later in life. If you take the pain for the next 30 years of your life, you’ll be sitting on top of success and still have plenty of time to enjoy life.
