Kathmandu, May 2
Locals of Nuwakot have blocked a Kathmandu Metropolitan City truck that was transporting waste to the Banchare Danda landfill site.
Around 200 garbage trucks heading to the site were stopped by locals in Kakani Rural Municipality-1 by placing stones and debris on the road.
The locals allege that during their visit to Balaju to sell vegetables, the municipal police manhandle them.
“All vehicles carrying our waste have been blocked. We are currently in talks. On average, 200 garbage trucks go to Banchare Danda daily,” said Sarita Rai, head of the Environment Department at the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, speaking to Onlinekhabar.
