Kathmandu, January 12

The impact of the westerly low-pressure system brought light precipitation and snowfall for the past few days. This weather condition is likely to continue for a couple of days, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

Meteorologist Manju Basi says the development of a new atmospheric system would come into effect from coming Friday only.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division forecasts light rain is likely to occur at a few places in Province 1, Province 2, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini whereas light snowfall at a few places of the eastern and central high mountainous regions in the next 12 hours.

The department has urged people to take precautions against cold and possible consequences of snowfall.

On Thursday, there will be partly cloudy conditions across the country and light snowfall is likely at one or two places of high hills and mountainous regions in Province 1 and Gandaki.

According to the division’s latest updates, the minimum temperature of the Kathmandu valley was 7.0 degree Celsius today and the maximum was 18.7 degrees.
