Butwal, June 16

Over one dozen major roads in various districts of the Lumbini province have been obstructed by landslides.

The Butwal-Narayangadh section of the East-West Highway obstructed after a part caved in at Devdaha of Rupandehi has not reopened yet.

DSP Dilli Narayan Pandey, the Provincial Traffic Police Office spokesperson, says the road is unlikely to reopen anytime soon as the rainfall has not stopped yet.

Meanwhile, the Butwal-Palpa road along the Siddhartha Highway is obstructed at least at six points since Tuesday. A landslide at Gaudapul of Palpa has destroyed a 50-metre long section of the road, hence, reopening it will take a few days, according to Pandey.

In addition, the following roads are obstructed as of Wednesday morning:

  • Aryabhanjyang-Rampur (Palpa)
  • Gorusinghe-Sandhikharka
  • Pyuthan-Bhalubang

Traffic police in the province have urged the public not to travel unless emergency.
